New York City!

New York City. Easter weekend. It was planned. Drive down from Massachusetts. Stay until Monday.

Spring Break.

Holy crap! That was NOT planned! I didn't take into account that it was also going to be spring break too. No wonder we had a helluva time trying to find a room for the weekend. Manhattan had no rooms available for the amount I was willing to spend per night on a room. Ended up in the Financial District, directly off of Wall Street.

My friend and I each spent, a minimum, of at least a $100 on taxi fares the whole weekend. Manhattan doesn't seem that far away. Take in account the traffic, and yeah, it is too damned far to go by taxi from Wall Street. I should have been a little more adventurous and ride the subway. I figured with my luck, I'd ended up way out in the Bronx and lost! I guess I could have been just like Jenny from the block and hopped the 6 if all else, eh. At least I knew it would have taken me right into Manhattan.

I didn't do too many of the "tourist" things. The Empire State Building had a line down and around the block. 2 hour wait minimum. Forget that! I have no patience for people as it is. It's better that I just move right along.

Times Square. Yeah. Too many people for me. It was nice to see it though. Had to take a picture of MTV studio and buy some Via La Bam stuff in the MTV store.

Statue of Liberty. The one thing that we actually planned for ahead of time and had already purchased our tickets on-line to go up inside her. Good thing too. The lines, yes I do mean lines, were loooooooooooooooooong! With having already purchased our tickets, we were able to bypass the ticket line. Now there was just the line to get on the ferry to deal with. The line was all the way through Battery Park. Let's just say that that people in line that were somewhat near the ferry entrance were not paying attention to the line moving in front of them, they were all too busy taking pictues, creating a great big gap. We got onto the ferry within 15 minutes! Nor were we the only ones.

(I had a lot more to say about my trip to New York City, but some how it all disappeared...)
