I seem to be on a Vampire quest right now. The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova was actually pretty damned good. She spun quite an interesting tale around the legend of Vlad the Impaler. I was mesmerized by her story, she made me not want to put the book down. It was definitely a page turner for me. I love how she took me on a journey through a young woman who finds an ancient book and a cache of letters in her father's library, that plunge her into a world that she never dreamed of...a labyrinth where the secrets of her father's past and her mother's mysterious fate connect to an inconceivable evil hidden in the depths of history. Quite riveting.
Him Harrison's Dead With Walking was good too. It's the kind of book that I call book candy. It's quick reading. Her book made me want to get The Good, the Bad, and the Undead & Every Which Way But Dead, the second and third book to this little witchy diddy. She just made me really like her characters, bounty hunter and witch Rachel Morgan, a 'living' vamp Ivy, and a pixy named Jenks. Now I want to know more of what has been in store for them.
However, I am a bit broke right now so I'm finally going to read Bram Stoker's Dracula. I've never read it and it has been way past time that I do so. Since I didn't stay in high school long enough to read all of the 'required' literature that I should have read by now, I am now trying to read most of them.
This whole weekend I've been trying not to think about my car. My poor car, she is not feeling good, she is hurting. Her front end started shaking Friday night as I was on my way home from working out. What is hurting me, is that I don't have the money to fix her and I am hoping that it's not some thing fucking major. Then again, when it comes to car repairs and I don't have the money for it, it is major for me. I'm hoping it's just my front end starting to go out, I know that is a major deal, but it beats it being something wrong with it engine wise. I guess I will be making a call to get her looked at. Gawd damn I really hate being fucking poor! I wish I could trade her in for the brand new Jetta.
